Legacy SpikerBox Analog Smartphone Cable
Legacy analog connection.
This cable connects compatible SpikerBoxes to phones, tablets, and computers through a 3.5 mm combined microphone/headset input, allowing analog signals to be recorded with compatible software.
This is a legacy connection method. It is supported by the current version of Backyard Brains Spike Recorder, but future versions of Spike Recorder will use USB connections and will not support this analog connection.
This cable remains available for customers maintaining older Backyard Brains equipment or using other software capable of recording from an analog microphone/headset input.
Compatibility with modern phones, tablets, adapters, and third-party software may vary.
Experiments
Electromyography (EMG) : Hear and See Muscles in Action
Explore how neurons in your brain control muscle movements, powering every step, jump, and dance.
Spikes! Hear and See Living Neurons
Learn how neurons send signals by exploring cockroach nervous system activity driving movement.
Neural Signal Pathways: Human-to-Human Control
In this lab, you’ll explore neural communication and motor control with the Human-Human Interface experiment.
Referencing Your Spikes
Why do we need more than one electrode to measure neural activity? In this experiment, you’ll explore the role of reference electrodes and how their placement affects recordings.
Venus Flytrap Electrophysiology
Electrical impulses aren’t exclusive to animals. Plants like the Venus Flytrap also use electricity to interact with their environment.
