The Claw
A muscle-controlled robotic gripper for exploring neuroprosthetics and human-machine interfaces.
The Claw’s built-in EMG circuitry detects muscle activation and converts it into movement. Flex and relax your muscle to open and close the pincers while discovering how biological signals can control robotic devices.
No computer, app, or separate amplifier is required. Simply connect the included electrode cable and patches, then put your control to the test with the included cup-stacking challenges.
Recommended for: Grade 4+ (approximately ages 9+). Younger users may benefit from help with electrode placement and initial setup.
Important to know:
- The Claw provides real-time muscle control but does not display, save, or record EMG data.
- Arm or cable movement and changes in electrode contact may cause unintended activation. Keep your arm, cable, and electrodes relatively still for the best control.
- The Claw is designed for the included cups and other lightweight objects. Do not lift heavy items or force the pincers by hand, as this may damage the mechanism.
